I know it is by God's word and born out by my own experience.
Many people pray for good health and even healing when they are ill. They often ask in faith, believing that God will make them well. Healing comes in time, or all at once. The Lord uses the hands of doctors. Physicians will say they cannot do their job without the power of God. They know that they provide the medicine, but that God supplies the actual healing of the body.
I was scheduled for vascular surgery in my stomach in mid-April. I had been experiencing stomach pains since November of 2008. A ligament was cutting off the flow of a major artery supplying blood flow to the stomach. In early April, I was at the end of my rope, and just trying to make it to my surgery date. I was talking to an old friend, a pastor whose church I had attended in my late teens and early twenties. He had been instrumental in helping me to mature in my faith as a Christian. We were praying together and he began to pray for healing for my stomach. Immediately my pains began to subside for the first time in six months! I was awed --as we continued to pray they left entirely. I have now been pain-free for a month. My surgery was called off because of the total absence of any pain. My surgeon told me he too believed in the power of prayer.
On the scheduled day of my surgery I went to work and worked my full shift. I am very thankful for this. Some of the people I have told have asked me to ask this pastor friend of mine pray for them. I am happy to do so, but he has no special power. The healing I experienced had nothing to do with either he or I, but only the resurrection power of God, spurred by the open hearts and the faith that He gifted us with at the time!
Prayer is always answered. God has the answer for each one of us. It's good to pray for a miracle and not exclude the possibility. He might just have one for you.
Acts 9:34 "And Peter said to him, 'Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you, arise, and make your bed,' and immediately he arose."
Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever."
